The Wichita Police Department arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with two armed robberies. They are still looking for two suspects.
The robberies both happened Friday. The first occurred at the Family Dollar Store in the 900 block of South Woodlawn. The second happened at the B & H Fast Trip in the 2700 block of South Seneca.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the B & H Fast Trip. They found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital. Police said the 16-year-old boy and three others entered the store, pointed guns at and employee and customers, and demanded money. The suspects took money and cigarettes. During the robbery, 42-year-old man, a customer, pulled out his gun and fired multiple shots toward the suspects. One struck the 16-year-old boy. The other three suspects fled.
At approximately 12:10 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery at the Family Dollar Store. The employee told police that three suspects entered the store, pointed handguns and demanded property. The suspects took money and cigarettes and fled.
Police said the 17-year-old boy was booked in the Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
