A school resource officer was taken to the hospital with injuries after a student battered the officer at Wichita Heights High School.
Police say the student involved was suspended and returned to the school when she wasn’t supposed to. When the officer approached the student, the student “became combative and injured the officer.”
Wichita police officer Paul Cruz said the officer was taken to a nearby hospital with several injuries. The officer has since been released from the hospital.
School officials released a statement saying, “a student who was suspended came back to school and when the officer stopped her she refused to leave and assaulted the officer.”
The student was arrested on charges of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
