Shooting near downtown Wichita leaves one seriously injured

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said a 28-year-old man was injured in a shooting Sunday. It happened in the 300 block of South Handley just a few blocks away from Riverfest events.

During the investigation, police learned a known suspect came over and struck the 28-year-old man with a bat and shot him once in the arm. The suspect left the scene. He has been identified by police. Officers are trying to locate him.

The victim was transported to the hospital, and he was treated and released.
