Authorities with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office say a man tried to take a deputy’s firearm during an arrest Thursday morning.
Thursday morning, around 6:47, deputies were called to the 5100 block of S. Hemlock Place for a report of criminal damage to property.
Once deputies arrived, they found Isaac J. Pankratz, 25, and arrested him for a felony warrant of criminal possession of a firearm.
The sheriff’s office says as Pankratz was being escorted to Sheriff Investigations, he tried to take control of a deputy’s gun while inside a courthouse elevator. Pankratz was handcuffed behind his back at the time.
During the scuffle, Pankratz suffered minor injuries to his forehead and he was taken to Via Christi St. Francis for medical treatment.
Pankratz was then booked in the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility.
