Teen arrested for battery of an officer and reckless driving

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Wichita police said an 18-year-old man was arrested for battery of a law enforcement officer and reckless driving

The arrest happened 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 7600 block of East Kellogg. 

Police said a motorcycle officer observed a man driving a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle approximately 100 mph on Rock Road northbound from Zimmerly. The driver was weaving in and out of traffic. 

Officers pursued the motorcycle to Kellogg near Armour. The suspect stopped and fled from the motorcycle. 

"The officer was battered by the suspect while he was being taken into custody," said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department. 

The 18-year-old man was booked for battery of a law enforcement officer, reckless driving and obstruction.
