Two people are in jail following a major drug bust in northeast Kansas.
The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy conducted a traffic stop just before noon Tuesday on eastbound I-70 in Topeka.
The deputy stopped a 2007 Toyota 4 Runner that was displaying a suspended license plate out of Nevada.
During the investigation, 18.5 pounds of cocaine, 1.3 pounds of methamphetamine, and 17 prescription pills of oxycodone were found within a manmade, non-factory compartment underneath the vehicle.
The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office said the street value of cocaine is $220,000 and meth is $8,000.
Jesus A. Gonzales-Molina, 28, of Pomona, Ca. and Alejandro P. Torrecillas, 28, of La Puente, Ca. were booked into the Shawnee County jail on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.
The investigation is ongoing.
