A Wichita man has been charged in federal court with robbing three commercial businesses.

Willie Smith, 38, of Wichita, is charged with three counts of robbery. Court documents allege that Smith robbed the Express Mart in the 500 block of S. Market on Oct. 14, a Peter’s Liquor store in the 300 block of W. Harry on Oct. 15 and a QuikTrip in the 1500 block of S. Seneca on Oct. 16.

In all three robberies, witnesses said Smith revealed a handgun and demanded money.

An affidavit revealed that Smith’s fingerprints were found at the Express Mart and the QuikTrip. But investigators did not find a gun.

Smith faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on each count if he is convicted.
