The Wichita Police Department arrested two people after drugs were found in a stolen car. It happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers responded to a suspicious character call at the Trail Motel in the 800 block of South Broadway.
Upon arrival, a police officer observed a stolen Impala leaving the parking lot
The officer attempted to stop the car in the area of Indianapolis and Topeka. The driver refused to stop, accelerated and fled from police. The car stopped after striking a car near 21st and Erie.
Police arrested 37-year-old Delaura Hopkins of Wichita on suspicion of auto theft, flee and elude, hit-and-run, transporting an open container, multiple traffic charges, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
In addition, police arrested 49-year-old Theodore Mitchell of Wichita on possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruct.
The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
