Wichita police are investigating a possible attempted abduction. It happened Thursday afternoon around 2:40.
Officers responded to a home on North Chautauqua after a 13-year-old girl reported that a black, four door sedan, possibly a Chevy Impala or Audi A6, pulled up at 14th and Erie. The girl said a man inside threatened her if she didn’t get into the car. She ran home and called police. Police released photos of the car pictured above.
Leis noticed cop cars up and down her street and has since installed a new lock on her home.
Just to be safe.
“And then that just happened on my street so I am scared, yeah,” said Leis. “So that’s just my biggest fear is getting abducted.”
Other neighbors saw all the officers responding and looking for a suspect while talking to possible witnesses.
“I wish more people would help out in that sense if people heard her instead of just letting it happen,” says Wichita resident, Brian Monroe. “They (police) need to push the issue harder and they need to do as much as they can.”
Police say they are doing just that.
“Plus… if you know anything, we want to hear from you,” said WPD spokesperson, Charlie Davidson.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man in his 50’s. He has thin framed glasses and was wearing a green flat billed baseball cap.
