WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police are warning residents of a phone scam.

Over the weekend, police received at least three reports that a person, claiming to be an officer, was calling residents to pay a fine due on an active warrant.

Police said they will never call to collect fines.

“We will never ask for money or for anyone to pay a fine over the phone,” said officer Paul Cruz, Wichita Police Department spokesman.

Police advise that you hang up on the caller.

Here are some of the most popular scams being used by scammers today.
