Woman arrested after dog dies from tire iron beating


Wichita police said a woman was arrested in connection to an animal cruelty case.  Police said it happened on Nov. 16 in the 1000 block of North Poplar. 

Police arrested 30-year-old Carlett D. Mcpherson on an animal cruelty charge and said there could be more arrests. 

“Reported to officers was unknown suspects beating a dog with a tire iron and releasing dogs to attack a victim dog,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department.

The beaten dog was taken to a emergency veterinarian where it died. The other dogs that attacked the dog were captured by officers. 

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for charges.
