Woman robbed of wedding ring, more than $8,000 in northeast Wichita

Police are asking the public’s help in solving a robbery of woman by two suspects in northeast Wichita.

Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release the incident began about 4:15 Tuesday afternoon when a 65-year-old woman reported she was approached by an unknown woman in the parking lot of the Walmart in the 3000 block of N. Rock Rd. Police say the woman asked the victim to give her a ride to a Walgreen’s in the 3700 block of N. Woodlawn.

Davidson said the victim and the woman were followed by a man in another car to the Walgreen’s parking lot where the man got out of his vehicle and into the victim’s car.

Police said the couple then allegedly robbed the woman of her wedding ring and cash from her purse. They said she then was forced to drive to a nearby bank and withdraw $8,000 from her bank account. The suspects then fled in the woman’s Silver Cadillac STS.

Police ask anyone who might know about this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or the police Robbery Division at 316-268-4518.
