A former serviceman is kicking off his centennial birthday by jumping straight out of an airplane.
Retired Army Master Sergeant Polito Olivas went skydiving to christen the milestone day.
The now 100-year-old man is no stranger to free falls. He spent 30 years jumping out of planes in Normandy, the Battle of the Buldge and in Korea.
“I’ve been very fortunate,” said Polito Olivas. “A lot of friends, a lot of close calls, but God saved me for something.”
Decades later the nonprofit Sea Inspiration and Sky Dive Hawaii teamed up to give Olivas the birthday treat.
Now his friends are encouraging him to break the world record age for skydiving.
