Not everyone will get the reference, but New Jersey State Police used a scene from “Seinfeld” to describe what happened off the coast of New Jersey Thursday.

“And suddenly the great beast was before them! He was ten stories high if he was a foot!” read part of a post on the New Jersey State Police Facebook Page.

The department took to Facebook to let area residents know that a fishing boat capsized about a mile off of the coast in Monmouth County after a whale encountered the vessel.

Police say the whale “surfaced beneath the vessel, causing it to capsize.”

Two people were on board the fishing boat and fell overboard as a result of the incident. Fortunately, they were not injured.

Police say troopers from the New Jersey State Marine Services Bureau are investigating.

The witty post went on to say, “charges against the whale are pending its apprehension.”

In case you’re not a “Seinfeld” aficionado, the funny quote comes from an episode when George Costanza pretends to be a marine biologist and recounts an ironic situation to the rest of the gang at their usual dining destination. You can watch the episode clip below!
