It’s been two weeks since Sedgwick County Deputy Robert Kunze died in the line of duty.
Since then support has poured in from the community for his family.
Sunday night, dozens of people made their way to Fuzzy’s Taco Shop.
Fuzzy’s was collecting donations for Deputy Kunze’s family.
When the fundraiser began around 5:30 the line was out the door.
People were wearing shirts with the thin blue line in support of Deputy Kunze.
The sheriff’s office says they are thankful to all the people giving help throughout this difficult time.
“I have family that’s involved in law enforcement and wanted to present and support the family,” said Holly Velazco, a Goddard resident. “I can’t imagine what they’re going through.”
“It’s been overwhelming,” said Aaron Miller, a public information officer with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. “It almost tears you up just hearing the stories of people that either worked with him or knew him just coming here and showing love for his family.”
Any tips left on the table also went to the family.
You could also buy bracelets with Deputy Kunze’s name on them.
Fuzzy’s also sold brownies and those proceeds will also go to Deputy Kunze’s family.
