FedEx truck crashes off Arkansas bridge into creek

A FedEx truck crashed into a creek off Interstate 40 in Arkansas.

The crash happened Friday afternoon on westbound I-40 between Forrest City and West Memphis. Traffic remains backed up in the area.

St. Francis County Sheriff’s Department said the driver of the FedEx truck was airlifted to the hospital. First responders said he was conscious.

Arkansas State Police said the FedEx trailer was hauling paint. Officers said there were no hazardous materials on the truck.

Another semi-truck was involved in the crash. The driver of that truck was not injured.

FedEx released the following statement about the crash:

We are cooperating with local officials as they investigate an accident which involved a FedEx Freight truck today on I-40 near Parkin, Arkansas. In accordance with company practice, we do not share personal information about our employees. In cases of damaged freight, we have measures in place to immediately recover as much as possible and to communicate with our customers as appropriate.
