ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas – GE announces plans to start production on a new line of plane engines at its Strother Field facility in Arkansas City.
The Passport 20 engine will be manufactured by the company. The engines will go on Bombardier’s Global Express jets.
GE Hopes the expansion will bring new jobs to Kansas.
“You get an engine out there on the marketplace, it’s not a cellphone, it’s not going to hang around for a year or a couple years, we’re talking about multiple decades of work at our facility,” said Jorge Perez, GE Strother Plant Leader.
Governor Sam Brownback and Congressman Mike Pompeo were on hand for today’s announcement.
