Authorities say woman set fire to Topeka living facility

A woman was arrested for aggravated arson after a Topeka nursing home caught fire.

The Topeka Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Providence Living Center at 1112 SE Republican. The fire happened before 1:45 p.m. Sunday. 

When fire crews arrived, they saw the fire occurred in one of the rooms in the building. The facility was evacuated as crews extinguished the fire.

The Topeka Fire Department Investigations Unit investigated the scene. After their investigation, 32-year-old Tamisha L. Brown was arrested for aggravated arson. The investigation unit said the fire was set intentionally.

The arrest was made regarding one of the four fires over the weekend.

There were no injuries at the time of the fire.
