Kansas man catches record fish in Arkansas

A Kansas man broke an Arkansas fishing mark that was held for nearly 33 years.

Mike Bowers of Abilene, Kansas, pulled in cutthroat trout weighing in at 10 pounds, 2 ounces back on Sept. 29. The previous record was 9 pounds, 9 ounces, set Oct. 6, 1985.

The catch was certified by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s chief.

Bowers pulled the fish from the White River. Bowers said he makes the trek to Arkansas to fish several times a year.

Bowers said he plans to have the record fish mounted by a taxidermist.
