The northwest part of the state is experiencing some of the worst of the winter weather, with rain, snow and extreme winds.
The snow is still blowing from heavy winds in Colby. And conditions forced many people to stay indoors, and many drivers to pull over for the night.
Including a group of musicians from New York on tour trying to reach Denver.
“We were supposed to get there tonight but it’s not going to happen,” explained Peter Anderson.
Truck drivers, some with reminders of the winter storm on their hoods, also stopped in town due to poor road conditions.
“I shut down a couple hours ago before they got bad when the wind was going hard the roads were just wet but it was getting below freezing and I knew they were going to get bad pretty quick,” added James Prudence.
Besides checking into hotels, visitors have also stopped at local restaurants to warm up and grab a bit to eat.
“We’ve had customers travelers in that are staying because they’ve been told not to head west,” said Becky Klippert, owner of J & B Meat Market.
Travelers say they hope to be back
