Pedestrian dies after being struck on Highway 54 in Kiowa County

A 71-year-old man is dead after being struck by a Jeep Wrangler Sunday.  It happened on U.S. Highway 54. 

The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Jeep driven by a 39-year-old Minnesota man collided with a pedestrian on Highway 54. The patrol said the man proceeded to the nearest town to file a report. 

The patrol identified the pedestrian as 71-year-old Larry Embers of McPherson. He was transported to Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City where he died.
