Power restored to city of Russell

Kansas

UPDATE: The City of Russell said in a Facebook post Thursday night that power should now be restored to the town.

City officials say if you are still without power, you should contact dispatchers.

The city of Russell is without power. The outage was reported around 1:45 a.m.

There is no estimate when power will be restored. Russell schools canceled classes because of the outage.

Residents are buying bags of ice and coolers to keep their food fresh.

The city urges residents not to call 911 or dispatch. Instead, they are asked to call 785-483-6311.

Russell has their own electric utility and is part of the Kansas Municipal Utilities Association.
