One man has died after a crash involving an emergency vehicle and a motorcycle in Leavenworth County Friday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. along US 24 just west of North Village Terrace in Leavenworth County.
According to the crash report, a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by Nicholas Ontiveros, 33, of Lansing, was traveling westbound on US 24 when he activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop a vehicle traveling eastbound on US 24.
The KHP says Ontiveros is a police officer with the Tonganoxie Police Department.
Ontiveros made a U-turn in front of a motorcycle driven by Tommy Roe, 62, of Anchorage, Alaska. Roe struck the Ford and was thrown off his motorcycle, according to the crash report.
Roe was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
