UPDATE: Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay reported Friday morning that the body found Thursday night is “likely Lucas”, saying an autopsy, expected to be completed later Friday would need to confirm that.

Chief Ramsay said that Lucas’ stepmother, Emily Glass, had led a private investigator to the site where the body was found. He said the investigator, David Marshburn, then called Wichita Police to report the body.

Chief Ramsay confirmed that Emily Glass was arrested last night and booked into jail for felony obstruction of justice. She is being held on $250,000 bond.

Chief Ramsay said the investigation into Lucas’ disappearance continues and asks that anyone with information related to the case should call WPD Homicide Detectives at 316-268-4181.

Lucas was reported missing on Saturday, February 17.

It appears that after three months, the search for Lucas Hernandez has come to a tragic ending.

Multiple sources confirm that a body believed to be that of missing Lucas Hernandez has been found in rural Harvey County.

There is a heavy police presence in southeast Harvey County near the area of 9700 S. Woodlawn.

David Marshburn, the private investigator hired to search for the missing boy, did confirm with KSN that the body of Lucas has been found in the area of 9700 S. Woodlawn.

Marshburn is from North Carolina and he was hired by the father of Lucas, Jonathan Hernandez. Marshburn tells KSN he flew into Wichita on early Wednesday morning and sometime Thursday afternoon into early evening he found the body of Lucas under a bridge. He said he worked the case for about 18 hours before finding the boy’s body.

“We know in our profession and in professional .. we will say he has been found,” said Marshburn.

KSN asked Marshburn who led him to the body and if Lucas’ stepmother Emily Glass and father Jonathan were with him. Marshburn said, “no comment.”

Lucas Hernandez’s great-grandmother has also confirmed to KSN that the body of her great-grandson has been found.

Harvey County Sheriff Chad Gay also confirmed to KSN that a “small body” was found under a bridge in rural Harvey County near 96th St. S. and S. Woodlawn Thursday afternoon.

Gay said a Wichita crime scene unit is processing the crime scene and working to positively identify the body. Sheriff Gay said that process could take a day of two.

“I am not exactly sure how it went down other than Wichita police were involved and they called our dispatch and told them ‘hey we found a body in your county’ and so our guys came out and sure enough there is a body in our county,” said Harvey County Sheriff Gay.

Lucas was first reported missing on February 17 by his stepmother, Emily Glass. He was last seen in his Wichita home in the 600 block of S. Edgemoor.

Dozens of searches have been conducted in efforts to find the missing boy in Sedgwick and Butler counties. A search team from Texas traveled to the area to search for the boy as well.

The scene in Harvey County remains with heavy police presence. Stay with KSN as we work to learn more details.
