WICHITA, Kansas – KSN Meteorologist Leon Smitherman returned Tuesday morning to Kansas Today. Last month, Leon underwent surgery to remove colon cancer. His tests came back cancer free.
Leon says his recovery has been hard, and he will slowly be making his return to the morning show.
“It feels so good to come back and be with the team,” Leon said. “This has been a very humbling experience.”
Leon’s doctor says his prognosis looks good.
“There was no radiation. There was no chemo. If I would of had to go through chemo, that would have been a game changer. Fortunately, I didn’t have. Fortunately, I came through this with just a wake up call,” he added.
Leon urges everyone to get an early checkup.
“I got really, really lucky,” he added.
