WICHITA, Kansas – KSN News has good news to share in Leon Smitherman’s journey with colon cancer.
Doctors say the surgery he had today went well. Leon was diagnosed with colon cancer just a few weeks ago.
“Colon cancer is very treatable. The earlier they are caught, the better the prognosis is going to be, so early colorectal cancers are curable,” said Dr. Noel Sanchez.
Sanchez says Leon’s surgery Thursday went smoothly with no problems or complications. He’ll spend the next few weeks recovering.
Leon is going public to urge others to get tested early. Leon himself is sharing more of his journey to raise colon cancer awareness.
