DERBY, Kan. (KSNW) - Some may call it a Christmas miracle. It came a little early for one Derby family who thought one of their holiday traditions wouldn't happen this year.
Every year, the Clifton family tries to get a picture with the man behind Christmas. Just when a car accident made them think it won't happen this year, they found someone at their door.
The Clifton family says they enjoy getting in the spirit of Christmas. What they didn't know is the holiday decor, made an even greater entrance for a special guest this week.
"Santa came to see you, that was pretty cool huh,?" said Jennifer Clifton, Derby.
Good ole Saint Nick surprised Jennifer Clifton, her son Dylan, and other family members Tuesday after hearing they wouldn't be able to visit him for pictures.
"He got a big, big smile," said Jennifer.
The family had recently hit a deer in their wheel chair accessible van for Dylan, who has Cerebral palsy. And the repairs, would take time.
"Not going to be able to even start working on it until the 30th," said Jennifer.
Jennifer says the surprise was priceless, and helped the family complete their tradition this year.
"Our own collection of Santa pictures," said Jennifer.
Old and recent family photos with Santa are always on display at the Clifton home during the holidays. They now have a frame for one more.
"We're going to take Dylan's picture and Santa's picture and put it in this frame," said Jennifer.
A Christmas memory...they will always treasure.
"It's something that we will always remember that's a big deal, a big special deal to us," said Jennifer.
Dylan was also able to read his Christmas list to Santa and they happened to make cookies that day so Santa was also well fed.
