2 inert grenades found in luggage at Eisenhower Airport last month

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The Transportation Security Administration announced that 91 firearms were found in carry-on bags around the country in the last week of September.

Firearms weren't the only items found. Two inert grenades were discovered in luggage at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport in Wichita.

TSA said the grenades were found on the same day. One was found in a carry-on bag, while the other was found in a checked bag. Authorities say they were discovered on September 27.

TSA is reminding travelers that they do not know if replica or inert items are live until they are properly inspected by explosives professionals. Proper scrutiny could lead to a complete shutdown or evacuation.

Travelers should be aware that real, inert or anything resembling an explosive is prohibited in carry-on and checked bags.

There is no word yet if any charges have been filed against the passenger. TSA has referred the case to law enforcement.
