Authorities identify human remains found northeast of Derby

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The Wichita Police Department has identified the human bones found last month northeast of Derby.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 30, officers responded to 55th Street South and Clifton after a hunter observed skeletal remains in a wooded area.

Investigators examined the area and collected evidence. The skeletal remains were sent to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center who confirmed the identity as 56-year-old Donald Cook of Wichita

In May 2017, police went to a home and made contact with a woman who reported Cook missing.

Police do not believe the man's death was suspicious.
