Bedbugs found at Wichita City Hall

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita city officials confirm bedbugs have been found in Wichita City Hall. The city said in a statement, that evidence of the bugs were found on the fifth floor of the building.

Officials said a treatment plan has been developed to eradicated the problem. The city adds that the goal is to provide a safe environment for employees and citizens. They also add that in a public facility, maintenance challenges are not uncommon.

“Whenever you have a place where you have a lot of people from the public that are entering and having access to those facilities these are common issues that you find in all public buildings, not just Wichita City Hall,” said James Clendenin, City Council member.

Clendenin said the city will be on a normal extermination maintenance plan and the extermination would come out of the city maintenance budget. He does not believe any of the offices will have to close at this time.
