Belle Plaine man killed in motorcycle accident south of Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Authorities said a Belle Plaine man was killed in a motorcycle accident Monday morning south of Wichita. It happened at 79th Street South and Hillside sometime between 6 and 9 a.m.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as 53-year-old Gregory S. Castoreno.  They believe he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.

“A bicyclist riding along this curve noticed the motorcyclist in the ditch. He looked in the ditch and found the motorcycle lying on top of a person,” said Lt. Lin Dehning, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department.

The bicyclist called 911. Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s department said if anyone was traveling through the area and witnessed the wreck, they are asked to call 316-660-3760 or at 911. The investigation into the accident continues.
