Bike valet services at Riverfest frees up parking

Local

If you’ve been to Riverfest, you know sometimes you may have to park a distance away and walk. But a local group is freeing up precious parking spaces and giving volunteers the chance to earn something special.

Bike Walk Wichita is offering their bike valet services again this year for donations toward their program which provides bikes for people who need them. Volunteers for the valet service are earning points toward a bicycle after they accumulate so many hours.

“It’s that shared culture of bicycling and that’s fun as well and just knowing that being a part of this organization, we’re open to everybody and it’s very much a community organization and so we welcome a real diverse group of people and being a part of that is real important for people,” volunteer coordinator Jack Murphy said on Monday evening.

The bike valet service is located near Ackerman’s backyard at Douglas and Waco. For more on Bike Walk Wichita click here.
