WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A hockey game Saturday benefited 3-year-old Eileen Vazquez, who was diagnosed with leukemia this past July.
It is all part of the 4th annual Gold as Ice benefit at Intrust Bank Arena.
The Thunder donated proceeds from ticket sales from the Gold as Ice game to Eileen and her family.
“And it has built from there. It’s a way to celebrate all the kids that have gone through a lot in life. We’re very fortunate to have our health and happiness, and some of these kids don’t,” said Patrick Foreman, fundraising organizer for Wichita Thunder.
An auction of game-worn jerseys was also held. The money was also donated to Eileen and her family.
Right after, the Wichita Thunder took on the Tulsa Oilers. Also in the crowd were dogs for the Thunder’s Pucks and Pups event.
