Chisholm Trail Marathon: Know what areas to avoid

The Wichita Chisholm Trail Marathon kicks off in two days — with more than 900 runners and hundreds of spectators

The 26.2-mile race will run through parts of Wichita. Racers will start in the Delano District, head east throughdowntown, past Rock Road, back through the city, and end in Delano.

If you’re driving Sunday morning, be aware of road closures and traffic delays.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • ROAD CLOSURE: Avoid the Delano District, from Sycamore east on Douglas.
  • TRAFFIC DELAYS: Wichita Police Department will direct traffic through major intersections of the race route — Douglas, Central, Hillside, Oliver, Woodlawn, Rock and Second. Runners will get priority as they near these areas.
  • ONE-LANE CLOSURES: Part of the race route will be open to traffic. Drive slow, pay attention to the runners and your surroundings.

The Chisholm Trail Marathon will impact traffic from 7 a.m. to noon. Crews plan to put down cones and barricades at 3 a.m. Sunday.

KSN is a proud sponsor of the Wichita Chisholm Trail Marathon will be hosting a live show starting at 7 a.m. on Sunday.
