Christmas trees shipped to military families

Local

Christmas is less than a month away, and the Kansas Christmas Tree Growers Association is making sure our troops and military families have Christmas trees.

This morning 100 trees were packed at the 4C Tree Farm to be shipped to military families throughout the country.

The donation is a part of a national program, Trees for Troops, which provides thousands of trees to military bases each year.

“We are a very patriotic bunch. Tree growers are patriotic, and this is our way of saying thank you to them. They can come to the location wherever they are and get a tree. A free tree,” said Willy Govert, Kansas Tree Growers Association.

Last year, Trees for Troops provided more than 17,000 trees to over 70 military bases.
