Church pays off $2.2 million in medical bills

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Kansas church and a non-profit were able to give millions of dollars to families with tremendous medical debt.

Pathway Church and RIP Medical Services wrote letters to 1,600 families across Kansas saying, in-part, “As an act of kindness in the name of Jesus Christ, your debt has been forgiven.”

The $2.2 million in debt-relief went to families who were otherwise unable to pay their debts. The money was taken out of advertising budgets and regular financial aid funds.

In a Facebook post, the church said, “Jesus did the same thing on the cross when He declared ‘it is finished.’ The debt of our sins, that we could not pay, had been forgiven!”
