Crash involving motorcycles on Kansas Turnpike forces lanes to shut down

Local

A multi-vehicle wreck shut down several lanes of the Kansas Turnpike Sunday afternoon. Officials closed off north and southbound lanes while they worked to clear debris from the accident.

It happened just after 1 p.m. in the afternoon near mile marker 36 south of Haysville. One car and three motorcycles were involved.

Two of the motorcycle riders were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were several minor accidents in the southbound lanes as traffic slowed and merged into one lane.

All lanes were back open by late afternoon.

Officials are still investigating what caused the accident.
