Don’t have a ride to the poll? Here are voter transportation options


Kansans are set to cast their vote tomorrow in the the 2018 General Election. However, many voters might not know how they will be getting to the polls.

Parties and ridesharing companies are going the extra mile to get voters to the polls.

The Sedgwick County Democratic and Republican parties are offering free transportation to and from the polls, a service offered in past years.

Voters need to call the party office to schedule a ride. Party officials said people can call on Election Day, but the earlier the better. Several volunteers are on hand who will drive voters to their polling locations.

Here are the numbers you need to know:

Wichita Transit

If you’d like a free bus ride tomorrow, show off your “I Voted” sticker. This will allow voters to ride Wichita buses for free all day.

Dodge City voters

The City is offering free rides to the Western State Bank Expo Center on Election Day.

Greg Orman, who is running as an Independent in the governor’s race, also wants to make ensure as many Kansans exercise their right to vote.

The Orman for Kansas campaign is offering a free shuttle service from noon to 7 p.m. Call (316) 847-6159 to schedule a ride.

Ridesharing companies

Both Uber and Lyft are offering discounted rides to the polls.

Uber is offering $10 off rides by using the promo code VOTE2018.

The Lyft promo code can be found on its partner Buzzfeed’s website.

Promo codes can only be used for a ride to a polling location.
