WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said a 56-year-old woman died after a crash Monday near 31st and McLean. It happened around 3 p.m.
Police said 56-year-old Marsha Oglesby was driving eastbound on 31st Street South when she was hit by a Ford Freestar van. The van was driven by 34-year-old Monty R. Carpenter, Jr.
Oglesby was pinned in her Buick. Police, fire and emergency crews responded and freed the victim.
She was rushed to the hospital where she died.
“Through the investigation, it is believed Carpenter ran the red light and struck the Buick causing Oglesby to be pinned in the vehicle,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department.
Carpenter ran from the scene but was later arrested. He was booked on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license.
