A Kansas family is in mourning after their loved one was killed in a fiery crash. It happened Wednesday in Kiowa County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a semi crossed the center line and crashed into a tractor trailer driven by Arkansas City native Justin Wise. Both trucks burst into flames.
“He would have done anything for anyone at any time,” says Megan Lear.
“He was the love of her life,” says Lear.
“The girls loved their dad so much,” she says.
And a man who will be missed.
“He loved his kids and his wife,” says Lear.
Justin Wise was a truck driver.
“He loved being a truck driver,” says Lear.
But more importantly a family man.
“He didn’t like being gone a lot,” she says.
Wise was killed Wednesday after another semi-truck driver crossed over the center line on U.S. 54 and hit his truck head on.
“I was horrified,” Lear says.
Meagan Lear is a family friend.
“I have known Justin for 13 years,” she says.
She says she is best friends with Wise’s now widowed wife, she is trying to stay strong for her and their two kids.
“Her kids are almost 16 and 12 and her oldest daughter, Haley, and her birthday is next Wednesday and she is turning 16,” she says.
She remembers Wise as a man who loved everyone and spent time with his family every chance he got.
“Every second he was home was spent with them,” she says.
She says her job now is to help the family as they deal with a difficult road ahead.
“We just have to be there until the funeral and when the funeral comes we will deal with that.”
The family is also trying to raise funds for his funeral expenses. They set up a GoFundMe for Justin Wise
