A Wichita family is speaking out hoping to get answers revolving around the death of their loved one. It happened a year ago.
Arthur Goebel was shot and killed on July 16, 2017, inside his south Wichita home.
Wichita police say they are still investigating and looking for answers in the case.
KSN spoke with a family member, who chose to not reveal their identity.
They say Goebel was an Air Force veteran and the ultimate family man.
“He loved his kids and grandkids because there was 28 grandkids, and you know, several great grandkids,” said the victim’s family member
The family member we spoke with also says Goebel was devout in this faith.
“He’s an elder in the church, went to church every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night and any other time they had, like, men’s bible study,” said the victim’s family member
Which is why Goebel’s family are still trying to understand why someone would hurt the 66-year old man, who they say, didn’t have any enemies.
“Having him taken from us was just, it’s hard, and you never have a chance to say goodbye, it’s hard,” said the victim’s family member.
Since his death, the family says police have worked hard to try and piece everything together.
“I just think the whole way the incident occurred, it’s kind of difficult for the detectives right now because of the evidence that was collected, that they are still trying to put that together,” said the victim’s family member.
The family is hopeful the public will also step forward with some answers.
“That somebody will actually come forward and talk and hope that they can solve it,” said the victim’s family member.
However, the family knows that solving the case won’t make his being gone any easier.
“You don’t heal from this, you just learn how to live with the pain,” said the victim’s family member.
The Wichita Police Department says they’ve conducted a few interviews in the past few months, regarding this case but still haven’t made any arrests.
As for tips in this case, they tell they haven’t had any for several months which is why they are urging the public to come forward with any information.
The reward for information into Arthur Goebel’s is murder now $10,000.
