KSN caught up with several people inside and outside of the arena watching the teams. It even included a large group of rowdy Wichita school children.
Instead of going to school, Clark Oswald surprised his kids with a trip to Wichita.
“To catch all the teams practicing and the opportunity to surprise my kids here and experience March Madness.”
“It is really exciting. I never been to anything like this, and I want to have fun watching the guys play,” said Adam Oswald, Clark’s son.
A number of Kansas Jayhawk fans also traveled from towns across Kansas to see the team practice.
“They are going to win. They are going to show off for the practice session so we can all yell them on,” said Glenna Reif, KU fan from Kiowa.
“Looking good, looking really good,” said Ron Hurley, KU fan from Haysville.
However, others traveled a distance to see their team compete. That group included Nate Rimmer. He is a professor of mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. He said a good contingent is traveling from Pennsylvania to watch their team play the Jayhawks.
“We are out numbered but that is ok though. We are in Kansas,” he said.
As for the city, Rimmer said everyone has been welcoming.
“It was a very nice welcome at the hotel. It is great. It is nice to be here. Happy to be here.”
