Fire at Wichita business prompts evacuation, no injuries

Local

Wichita fire crews were called to the scene of Exacta Aerospace Friday afternoon after a fire broke out in the building.

The company is in the 4200 block of W. Harry.

Dozens of employees were evacuated and waited outside after fire crews say an employee called reporting a titanium machine was on fire.

A battalion chief tells KSN crews were able to put the fire out using chemicals instead of water.

“It turns out it was two electric motors on top of the machine,” said WFD Battalion Chief Brad Boyd. “Crews were able to put the fire out and no one was hurt.”

Employees were allowed back inside after crews put the fire out.
