Fire crews are investigating what caused a large building fire. It happened in the 1300 block of South Mosley early Wednesday.
Crews were called when a police officer saw a transformer over a building on fire. When fire crews arrived, they found fire on the inside of the building.
The area was surrounded by wooden pallets which caused issues for crews with hoses.
“We fought the fire actually from the exterior just due to excessive storage and then trying to gain access. Once we actually found a vantage point to the building, we were able to pull our hose lines inside and actually put the fire out,” said Chief Tammy Snow, Wichita Fire Department.
Chief Snow says the physical demand of gaining access to the building was the reason for the heavy firefighter presence.
She says it was for their own safety to have extra hands available for the fire.
