Fires burn in Ford County


DODGE CITY, Kan. (KSNW) – KSN News continues to follow multiple fires across Kansas including one that is forcing some evacuations in Dodge City. Right now, officials said they are working five fires in Ford County. The fires are in Spearville, Bucklin, Ford, and two around Dodge City.

Dodge City schools sent out this statement. They said due to the fire in Dodge, any remaining students who are still at their school and live at Green Acres, south of McArtor, La Brisas, Wilroads Gardens Rd, Lariat Way, Lariat Rd will be taken to the Civic Center. Parents are asked to bring ID for identification to pick up your child.

The Dodge City Police Department said the fire has been contained to the area south and east of Trail and the bypass.

Green Acres, Wilroads Gardens, 110 Spring & Marshall, Highway 56 near Dodge City Raceway Park, South 113 and Highway 56 have been evacuated.

If you have been evacuated or need evacuation, the dome at the Dodge City Community College is being utilized as a shelter.
