Former Newman softball player killed in Colorado car crash

Newman University has announced the death of an alumna and former softball player. 

The school shared the information in a post to their Facebook Page. 

Peyton Riedel, 25, of Colorado Springs died Tuesday in a car crash in Colorado Springs. 

“Our prayers go out to the family and friends of Newman Alumna Peyton Riedel ’15, who was killed in a car accident in Colorado on Tuesday,” read a statement from the school.

Riedel played softball for the Jets. She received two Bachelor’s degrees in psychology and criminal justice from Newman University.

An online obituary shared by the school says “Peyton was fun and energetic, always able to put a smile on your face. She was adored by her family, especially her second cousins, and all the children she cared for.”

According to her obituary, Riedel had been working as an assistant softball coach at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs.
