Four injured after shooting in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Four people were injured Saturday after a shooting in the area of Harding and 14th in Wichita. Authorities said the shooting was the result of a disturbance between two street gangs.

At least one victim was transported to a nearby hospital. That person was listed in critical condition Saturday. Another victim was also taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Two additional victims walked into a nearby hospital with injuries stemming from the shooting, authorities said. Police said all four victims have since been released.

Police say a vehicle pulled up near a home and shots were fired soon after. Multiple people were inside the home at the time of the shooting and multiple people were also inside the vehicle outside of the home when the shots were fired, authorities said.

Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said "the WPD will be increasing patrols in the area, allocating resources and working with stakeholders to identify those responsible and involved to insure they are held accountable. A continuation of this violence will not be tolerated."

Police said their investigation has been hampered by minimal cooperation and are asking the community for more assistance.
