Geary County Sheriff arrested on charges including felony theft

GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – Special agents arrested the Geary County Sheriff Thursday morning on multiple charges including a firearms and theft charge.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation reported they took Anthony J. “Tony” Wolf, 44, into custody around 9:00 a.m. in Junction City. He was arrested for felony theft, allegedly giving a firearm owned by the county as a gift to a “third party,” and misuse of public funds.

The misuse of public funds charge asserts Wolf used public dollars in a manner not authorized by law. The KBI said they had been investigating the sheriff since August.

Wolf was booked into the Geary County jail, then subsequently released on bond. Dickinson County Attorney Andrea Purvis has been appointed to serve as a special prosecutor in the case.
