A family is devastated after a 8-month-old boy is dead. His father arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Dorl Gwyn, 28, has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and abuse of a child.
The family of Jazz, the boy who died Tuesday morning, is heartbroken.
“He was a friendly baby, he smiled at all of us, we watch him and every time he would smile at us, he wouldn’t cry or nothing,” said Rica Bradley, Jazz’s aunt.
“Friendly, always smiling, especially when I call him number one man,” added Chree Bradley, Jazz’s aunt.
Karen Bradley, visibly emotional and shaken by the death of her grandson, Jazz, says he was a “happy baby, smiling all the time.”
Wichita police were called to the home on South Hunter just before 11 Tuesday morning.
“The initial responding officers learned that the father had told the hospital staff that he was shadowboxing and roughhousing with the child and that the child had stopped breathing” said Lt. Todd Ojile, Wichita Police Department.
The family is still in shock and hoping for answers.
“First, it was he fell off, and now, he was rough-housing, that don’t make sense,” said Chree Bradley, Jazz’s aunt.
“He is a baby, why would he be fighting a kid?” asked Rica Bradley, Jazz’s aunt. “He’s a kid, an innocent bystander.”
