Heavy rain that moved through the Wichita area Wednesday caused high water in flood-prone areas.
KSN News caught video in east Wichita near the Dole VA Medical Center.
A drainage ditch along Bleckley and Waterman was running full, and several streets in the area were covered wih water.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water.
A mere six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles
